Appearance
A relatively small turtle, weighing
appoximately 500 grams, with a small, dark-brown, flat shell
which is too small for its head to retract in to. When young
its head is orange-brown, as it grows older the color changes
to dark-grown. Its mouth is sharp with strong clipping jaws.
Its legs are too big to retract in to its shell, but its
sharp claws are useful for scaling trees or rocks in case
of avoiding danger. Its tail protrudes visibly outside its
shell. |
Description
Settles near streams, waterholes,
canal and ponds, prefering to stay on land than in water,
entrenching itself in grass brushes. |
Regions
India, Indochina, Malaysia, Sumatra,
Indonesia, Philippines, Central and Southern Thailand. in
Resident along the pool, pond, canal, lake, prefer on the
ground, |
Diet
Plants, vegetable, fruits, fish, shellfish,
crab, shrimp |
Breeding
Breeding in the water, lay eggs on
the ground, 2-3 eggs per time, more than one time a year. |
