Great Argus (Great Argus Pheasant)

Appearance

It is a kind of large bird and no spur , one kind of Thai phesant. Male is more beautiful than female. Grey brown on the wing and have dark spot along also. There is the crest on the crown, blue face and throat with yellow bill and red legs. Male has longer upper cover-tail than female.

Description



Regions

Found in Sumatra, Borneo, Tanaosri Mountain, in Thailand seen in the south from Prachuabkireekhan province to Malayu. It's difficult to fing this local bird. in Rare resident of Great Argus Pheasant in deep florest, shy bird, the call loudly "wow..wow" notes, sometimes more than 30 times. Actually it live alone except ????

Diet

Great Argus Pheasant eat seed, fruit, insect and worm.

Breeding

For the breeding season, male prepare floor ground and show female of dancing, called Great Argus Pheasand floor which is clean and tidy.Male will call female when she come he will show her dancing to attract the famale before breeding. After breeding season, female will prepare the nest and give birth
