Appearance
Emus appear to have bushy, blackish
or brownish-gray, fur-like feathers. They have long
necks, elongated body and long, powerful pair of legs.

Description
Emus have remained common in
Australia despite having been considered as serious
pests on farmland. They can run at speeds of 48 km/h
(30 mph) and swim well.

Diet
Fruit, berries and insects make
up the bulk of their diet.
Breeding
The female lays 7 to 10 dark-green
eggs, with a characteristics pimply texture, in a
hollow in the ground. The male incubates the eggs
for about 60 days.
