Appearance

Description


Emus have remained common in Australia despite having been considered as serious pests on farmland. They can run at speeds of 48 km/h (30 mph) and swim well.

Diet

Fruit, berries and insects make up the bulk of their diet.

Breeding

The female lays 7 to 10 dark-green eggs, with a characteristics pimply texture, in a hollow in the ground. The male incubates the eggs for about 60 days.

Non-threatened
